The Women's Prison Association works to empower women impacted by incarceration and homelessness to redefine their lives.

New York City alone spends $178 million to incarcerate 320 women in local jails for one year—that’s over half a million dollars to lock up one (1) woman in jail. Everyday, WPA challenges policymakers, community leaders, and stakeholders to imagine what could be done if we reinvested the half a million dollars spent to incarcerate one woman annually into community-based solutions for women and their families.
